Mercury in Leo is stationing Retrograde as I write this. So far, so good:) Basically, Mercury is traveling with Mars in Leo, and this makes for dramatic, overwrought thinking and communication. Most of us already know Mercury rules our thinking and communication processes, as well as how things in our 3D world run mechanically and technically. And when Mercury slows in motion and appears to move backward for the next three weeks…well, our brain function is telling us to take a pause. It’s saying it needs time to REst, REtreat, REpair, REview, REwind, REwire, REset, and eventually, REboot.

But, for now, in what’s called the Storm Phase of Mercury slowing down, usually three days ahead and three days after the exact station, we start to wonder what’s going on! Why are we having tiffs and outright verbal combat with those we love? Why are these weird misunderstandings happening over seemingly straightforward, obvious situations? Yep, it’s time to take a step back, and let go and keep letting go of needing to be understood, needing clarification, needing to be on the same page with anyone and everyone.

We’ve got to remember we’re also in a historic set of Eclipses going on here in July. We just had the Total Solar New Moon Eclipse in Cancer on July 2. Cancer is the Sensitive Water Sign of Nurturing, Mothering, Homes, and Domesticity. We are also in the month of Cancer, and our U.S. is a Cancer, born on the 4th of July. Cancer, the Crab, has the tough outer shell protecting its tender underbelly. The upcoming Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on July16 will happen in Earthy Capricorn, ruling business, governments, money systems, and ancestors. Capricorn rules the Skeleton. Our historic structures internally and externally are undergoing massive change. That Lunar Eclipse will also be conjunct Pluto, putting in capital letters the need to be Flexible, Adaptable, and Willing to Change.

Interestingly, Mars the Masculine, entered Leo the day before the Solar Eclipse, and Venus the Feminine entered Cancer the day after. Part of us wants to Roar, and Part of us wants to Hide. Our Inner Masculine and Feminine are being challenged this Eclipse Season to Embrace Both Sides of Ourselves. We are not defective, yet our shortcomings are clearly visible to us and everyone else this month. With Chiron in Aries stationing Retrograde tomorrow, Monday the 8th, we’ll be extra sensitive to the Healing Drama going on internally, with others, and with our country.

And so, the key is once more, Loving Kindness, Forgiveness, and Compassion towards ourselves. As we practice loving and embracing all side of ourselves, we’ll be better able to hold our ground and not react when loved ones, friends, strangers, and our even our complex society, fall off their pedestals or act out. Maybe we can even not react so much to ourselves reacting, catch ourselves, love ourselves, laugh at ourselves and move on. There are no big deals. There are no enemies. There are only our own True Selves trying to find ourselves. As Ram Das says, “We’re all just walking each other Home.”
